Company management is fully committed to ensuring our employees are provided with the proper training and equipment to perform their work safely. Every project is carefully evaluated, job site safety analyses are performed, and safety meetings are held to ensure a safe work site. General Safety Policies

It is the depth of our company policies and procedures, and the commitment with which all members of our company follow them that makes Feldkamp an industry leader in safety in the construction industry. Our customers depend on Feldkamp to provide the highest quality service, and to ensure we meet that level of service; we rely on a well-designed, well-tested, and well-followed set of company policies and procedures.

These company policies are taught during new employee orientation and during annual/refresher training, to include during our weekly Toolbox Talks meeting that is required by every employee, and rigidly followed by our management staff. Every year, management and the safety director review these policies with the owners. This way we are always able to ensure the validity and accuracy of the policies by which our company operates.

Safety Training

Feldkamp offers numerous safety and health classes to our employees utilizing both our in-house expertise as well as industry experts. Safety classes conducted range from working safety around construction projects, to principles of rigging and hoisting, to scaffolding safety. Of the many types of classes conducted, some of the more frequent classes include:

  • OSHA 10-and 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health Courses
  • Adult First Aid and CPR
  • Crane Safety
  • Asbestos/Lead Awareness
  • Permit Required Confined Spaces
  • Trenching and Excavation
  • Lockout-Tagout
  • Electrical
  • Competent Person
  • Fall Protection

    Orientation

Each new employee at Feldkamp reports to the Corporate Safety Director on his or her first day for a safety orientation. Safety is the main emphasis for new hires during orientation. Employees are given an Employee Handbook that outlines Feldkamp's safety expectations.

    Toolbox Talks

Each work week begins with a Toolbox Talk discussion by every supervisor with his or her crew. The Toolbox Talk covers safety-related incidents from the previous week, (such as site inspections or near misses), a one-week look ahead for site-specific hazards and an assigned weekly safety topic. Weekly topics are generated in-house and use various safety-related incidents as lessons learned.

    On-line Safety Training

    Included in our safety program is the on-line OSHA WEB based free training. This training enables employees to gain access to training such as Personal Protective Equipment, Forklift Safety, Hazard Communication and much more. To access click on the link below;
